.  Looking for a little R & R that truly is just that?  Then come to Casa Dos Amigos where rest and relaxation can be your first priority.  Casa Dos Amigos welcomes the vacationer who appreciates secluded beaches, the unexpected pleasures of the many tropical fish found amidst the second largest coral reef in the world, the sights and sounds of different species of birds, or who simply enjoys the environment of a tropical habitat.  Guests can experience the pleasure of reading a book undisturbed, gazing out at the Caribbean, or sight seeing along the coast either by boat or by car.  The more adventurous can explore the Mayan mysteries in Mexico's last frontier, the state of Quintana Roo in the Yucatan peninsula.

Casa Dos Amigos is located on the Caribbean coast in the Mexican village of Puerto Morelos, just 20 minutes south of Cancun's airport.   It is centrally located and well situated for easy trips to Cancun, Cozumel, Playa del Carmen,  Tulum, with all their attractions, both natural and tourist.  The reef in Puerto Morelos has recently been declared a National Park.

Why Puerto Morelos? Pure relaxation!.  The laid back atmosphere of a tiny 'non-touristy' Mexican fishing village, but just 30 minutes from the center of bustling Cancun and Playa del Carmen's shopping and nightlife.  You'll meet friendly honest natives and tourists interested in nature and the true local culture, and prices are much lower than in the larger cities.  Population of approximately 5000 people with a grocery store, small shops, artists shops, churches, restaurants, diving, snorkeling and fishing facilities, town square, (often Saturday nite dances).  The people of Puerto Morelos are very warm, friendly and outgoing.  The park in the center of town is a gathering place at day's end.  Children's games, basketball, music and gossip are daily events.  It is not unlike what used to be in small towns before TV ruled our lives.  Tourists are welcome to participate in the festivities.

Due to its fairly deep passages, in the worlds second largest coral barrier reef, Puerto Morelos is one of the oldest seaports in the Yucatan.  Up until the 1940's there was a small-gauge railroad connecting the port to the tropical jungle where natives harvested hardwoods and chicle (for chewing gum).  You can find a chicle camp still located nearby.  There is also a local guide service that provides tours through the jungle, chicle camp, and cenotes.
